I gradutated from Northwestern Health Sciences University in August of 2008 as a certified massage therapist. While in school I specialized in medically fragile clients doing an externship at The Aliveness Project serving the HIV+/AIDS community here in Minneapolis and I provided massage to cancer patients in chemotherapy infusion rooms. I also reached out to and voluteered time to those with auto-immune disorders such as Crohn's and Multiple Sclerosis. It is vital that these communities get this sort of care and touch and I found that it helps their quality of life in measurable ways. It is really rewarding to be able to offer this transformational work to people who need it.
In January 2010 I tested and became Nationally Certified.
I have been certified as a Reiki II practicioner since Feruary of 2005. It was getting this certification and starting down the path of bodywork that led me to Northwestern and their massage program.
As my business grows I find more and more office professionals coming to me needing help with the symptoms of how our society functions. Sitting behind a car wheel or at a computer desk all day is hard on our bodies. I work with those situations and symptoms, retraining the muscles on how long they are supposed to be and releasing pressure in places that would otherwise cause significant pain.
